South Africa's climate is extraordinarily diverse. Johannesburg gets intense summer thunderstorms. Cape Town faces winter gales. The Northern Cape bakes in 45°C summer heat. Durban adds humidity to the mix. Protecting your business assets requires understanding which threats apply to your region.

Highveld (Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Free State)

The biggest threats here are summer hailstorms, intense UV radiation, and afternoon thunderstorms with high winds. Key needs:

Western Cape

Winter rainfall and south-easterly gales define the Western Cape threat profile. Covers must handle sustained wind rather than sudden gusts, and must deal with prolonged wet periods rather than intense short storms.

KwaZulu-Natal

Humidity is the key challenge in KZN. Condensation, mould, and rust are constant threats. Canvas and breathable covers are often preferable to standard PVC to avoid moisture trapping.

Northern Cape and Limpopo

Extreme heat accelerates UV degradation faster than anywhere else in South Africa. Only the highest UV-stabilised grades last more than 2–3 seasons here. Dust is also a constant challenge for machinery and equipment.
